Help us to deck the halls of the Lapham-Patterson House in holiday cheer! The Thomasville History Center invites you to decorate a complete Christmas tree (star to skirt), a mantle, or a tablescape celebrating our community and its rich history. You are also welcome to reflect your organization or business in your decorations.
The decorations will be on display throughout the Lapham-Patterson House for the duration of the holiday season. Our goal is to have all items in place in time for Victorian Christmas and remain on display through the holiday season. Decorations should follow Victorian traditions and reflect the Thomasville community.
Please help us to bring holiday cheer to the Lapham-Patterson House and bring the home to life this holiday season! All participating organizations and businesses will be recognized on printed material and on social media.
Can’t commit to an entire tree or mantle but want to help? We will be hosting a “decorating day” on Wednesday, November 21 between 10am and 1pm to start hanging garland, assembling Christmas trees, and making ornaments for the LPH’s 9 ft tree in the Ladies’ Parlor. Contact Amelia to volunteer! Donations of operable string lights, garland, etc. in new or like-new condition will also be considered.
A Few Guidelines for Decorations:
Participants are asked to provide all materials necessary for their decorations including their own artificial trees, lights, extension cords, etc.
Decorations made from organic materials must be sustainable for the entirety of the holiday season: Dec.1-Jan.1 and require no maintenance from History Center staff. This means no live trees, fresh fruits, or cut greenery or flowers please!
Participants are responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the displays in a timely manner.
Participants may be asked to complete a one-time “Loan Agreement” form provided by the History Center describing the items on display and any pertinent insurance information (if any)
