Summer is almost here and the Thomasville History Center is ready to welcome campers back for another fun-filled session of Camp Dawson. This year, we’re trying something new. The History Center will welcome rising 1st through rising 6th graders for 3 stand-alone camp days inspired by the fun and exploration of Camp Dawson. Campers can register for one or all of the days and will experience different activities inspired by a historical period each day.
Taking into consideration the safety of campers and volunteers, the 3-standalone adventures into the past will allow for a day in between each for us to clean shared spaces and materials and prepare for the next day. Each day will have a maximum registration of 16 campers who will be divided by age: 1st -3rd graders and 4th-6th graders. Each group will experience parallel, age-appropriate activities across our property. Camp will begin at 9am and end at 4pm. To arrange for early drop off (beginning at 8am) please contact the History Center directly. Campers will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Registration fees: $60 per day. Includes all activity materials and snacks. Campers must provide their own lunch and a refillable water bottle.
Scholarship applications are available from the History Center and are due May 14.
Camp Days:
Monday, June 7: Indigenous Peoples Day: discover the traditions and crafts of South Georgia and North Florida’s indigenous populations.
Wednesday, June 9: Settling Thomas County: experience life as a Georgia pioneer at the Smith Homestead.
